Jay Parkinson, MD, MPH, is a physician, designer, and entrepreneur who has spent his career pioneering new models of healthcare delivery. In 2007, he launched the world’s first iPhone-powered house call practice, using technology to make primary care more accessible and efficient. This led to the creation of Sherpaa, the first Virtual Primary Care company, which redefined how patients and doctors interact outside of traditional office visits. Sherpaa proved that asynchronous, tech-enabled care could deliver superior outcomes while reducing costs, a model that has since influenced the entire industry. Now, with AI poised to automate the administrative burdens that frustrate doctors and dilute patient care, Jay is focused on the next frontier—leveraging AI to streamline documentation, optimize workflows, and free doctors to focus on what they do best: practicing medicine.

We will ensure that AI complements human connection.
Technology should be a tool that frees up physicians to care for patients, not diminish compassion, empathy, and trust that should be core to the doctor-patient relationship.
We will respect the autonomy and dignity of every patient.
AI shall assist in decision-making, but the final decisions will always belong to patients and their clinicians. AI must respect and protect the humanity of the people it serves.
We will work to prevent disease wherever we can.
We want to make sure that the systems and data we work with and log will focus on prevention first, and cures second.
We will protect patient privacy and data security at all costs.
We will uphold the sanctity of patient data, ensuring it is used only with consent, safeguarded against misuse, and leveraged solely for the purpose of improving health and advancing care.
We will work with data free from bias to treat all patients equitably.
We will take active steps to identify and eliminate biases in systems to ensure that care is fair and inclusive, regardless of race, gender, status, or any other characteristic.
We advocate for tech to reduce burdens on clinicians to improve their well-being.
